We all have them…..the little red circles that reside in the corner of the icons on our cell phones.  The little red circles that alert us to new messages or updates or posts.  How addicted are you to your phone?  How quickly do you respond to the red bubbles?  Can you ignore them?

I’ll admit that there was a time when I constantly checked my phone and looked at all the red bubbles.  I had to check my email whenever the red bubble alert came up.  I had to check all the latest updates on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.  I was constantly scrolling through Pinterest, constantly checking the news and weather.  Constantly looking at my phone or iPad.

I finally got tired of this constant looking at my phone.  I changed my alerts so that the red bubbles don’t pop up.  I limit my Facebook and social media time, and I can’t remember the last time I scrolled through Pinterest.  I still check my phone, I still read with my Kindle app, I still look at my social media, but I don’t feel the need to see every update.  I realized that I don’t need to know what every person on my feed is doing at any given time.  I’ve stopped posting to Facebook as much.  I’ve unsubscribed to emails that I don’t read.  I’ve basically de-cluttered my phone.

And the great thing about this de-cluttering and unsubscribing is that I am paying more attention to what is going on RIGHT NOW.  I’ve taken more time to spend at home enjoying the outdoors, swimming, walking and biking.  It’s eliminated drama from my life that wasn’t mine to begin with.  RIGHT NOW I’m taking time to notice the storm that’s coming, the end of summer and the beginning of fall.  RIGHT NOW is all that matters.  And the people and furbabies that I love the most are here with me RIGHT NOW.

I don’t even miss those little red bubbles.
